Create Eat took over my life

What started out as some drawing and then became conversation with Aoife and Carol the fantastic duo of jelly and gin, who's hard work made create eat possible, and gave me the chance to finally make one of my dangly-elasticated-hanging cutlery creations. After lot of knitting and a lot cutlery bending, drilling and sewing, then end result was an autumnal canapĂ© canopy fit for any eating extravaganza. Here are some pictures from the set up....

Thank you so much to Aoife and Carol for having me help, and the wonderful collaborators, everyone who came and took part in the fun, and my friends and family for all there help and putting up with elastic yarn everywhere over the past 2 months.

Last Friday the 19th of October 2012, Create Eat took place - 25 collaborators: designers, chefs, mixologists, food and drink producers, food and drink retailers, artists, chocolatiers, coffee experts, photographers and film-makers each donate a skill or an item to  contribute to a spectacular dining experience.

Artist Mahala Le May ’s work focusses on food and dining. She is interested in proposing situation, highlighting ulterior motives and enticing play. As well as exploring the tactile elements of fine dining as a means of heightening sensory and emotional awareness.
Here's my crest for create eat, drawn by the lovely hannah, getting very excited now and I don't want to let too much out the bag, but there will be lots of forks involved.

Here's some pictures from and amazing antiques shop down in Ely, could have spent a week in there.

Create:Eat is here....

Last night I meet with collaborators from Create:Eat, (at the delightful Last Word Saloon) an amazing project thought up by the amazingly talented duo Aoife and Carol of Jelly and Gin. Create:Eat is going to be a dining extravaganza, In their own words -

The idea is simple, take 25 collaborators: designers, chefs, mixologists, food and drink producers, food and drink retailers, artists, chocolatiers, coffee experts, photographers and film-makers. Ask each of them to donate a skill or an item that will contribute to a spectacular dining experience. Joining these people at the table will be another 25 paying guests whose contribution will have ensured that this amazing and unique dining experience takes place.

All set up in a gothic church in the heart of Edinburgh this will be a feast for all the senses. Taking place on the 19th of October, something very special will be kicking off and I'm very very excited to be involved!

There are 5 tickets left for the event priced £100 and also on sale are very special Create: Eat tote bags £20 in one bag are 2 tickets for the night!

How it all began.

Wedding Cake

On Friday I made a giant playing card wedding cake, with 7kg of icing and 10kg of cake and 36 eggs it was a bit of a whopper. Finished off with Alice in Wonderland shrinkies made by the delightful Kimberley, big but hopefully beautiful. Getting it to the venue was a bit of a task.
But well worth the journey, wedding was a real corker.

Back at long last!

In september I worked with food stylist Fergal Connolly on this advert filmed up in the very beautiful Glenelg. Lots of fun and driving around.

Made some pies for a film called 'Love Bite' should be released this year.

For Tramways' Halloween Family Day I ran drop in sugar skull decorating workshop in Glasgow.

All the children, parents, volunteers and staff who were fantastic, it was a brilliant day.

December was spent making mostly gingerbread houses for craft fairs and mince pies on sticks for the Creative Dundee christmas party, lots of fun and baking.
